Meeting Topic:

We intend to look at: Arsenic as a co-precipitated contaminant and how it can be easily managed.  Pressure filters and/or packaged plants when the proper amount of iron is present. If not enough iron is present, what can be done using Ferric based coagulants, possibly radionuclide reduction. We will cover improvements in the filtration processes with media retaining baffles in a combined air water backwash application.  This works with pressure filters and gravity filters in conventional plants.  This would extend to what the region has seen with other underdrains, as we review Multiblock with Laser shield and low profile media retaining troughs.  The Balance of our presentation time would address rehabs, upgrades and expansions with a focus on compliance with the new LT2 regulations.  Time permitting, we will offer an introduction on ballasted flocculation.

We would appreciate participants submitting questions in advance of the meetings to help make the meetings more interactive and informative for participants (i.e. we want to know what is important to you).  Suggestions for question topics: what are current operational issues a plant is having, rehabilitation vs. replacement or expansion, Ground water, Surface water and Ground Water Under the Influence, EPA regulations.
