Plants play a critical role in the performance of vegetated green infrastructure practices for stormwater management. Consequently, their health - vital or poor - can act as a key indicator of actualized performance. This course will serve to provide attendees with an understanding of the challenges and best practices of plant installation and maintenance which can impact the successful performance of a vegetated green infrastructure practice. Attendees will also be provided insight into key observable indicators of success or failure when executing a field inspection.

Upon completion the attendees will:

·          Understand the various roles and responsibilities of installation providers.

·         Understand the challenges surrounding plant material procurement.

·         Be able to name the stages of a Plant Installation Cycle.

·         Understand the implications of specified soil blends and installation techniques on                future plant performance.

·         Understand plant installation best practices.

·         Understand the importance of a maintenance plan as an Asset Management Plan.

·         Be able to name effective maintenance protocols leading to realized performance of              various vegetated GI practices.  

·         Understand the methods used to manage and execute an effective GI Asset                          Management Plan.

·         Understand the importance of instilling Stewardship: it’s a living system.

·         Be able to point out installation and maintenance errors leading to possible dilution              of original performance intent.

After the 2 week deadline, you are no longer eligible for refunds but substitutions are welcome. No refunds for those who register and fail to attend.
